Whistler 5, 6 & 7

The heading says it all I guess - we are in chill out mode and it definitely helps the wallet. we have done another trip into the village just to pick up groceries and we managed to do just that!!! Yeah for us!

So what are we doing you ask? Well....Megs has a 500 gig external drive which has loads of movies and TV series so we have been well occupied. We are back in the Jack Bauer stage (very exciting for me!!!) I have to say the first show from series 8 was a little disconcerting as it begins with Jack referring to himself as GRANDPA Jack....devastating is close to how I felt but I was assured by the end of the second show that he can still withstand torture after being stabbed....he's still my Jack!! Thank God!

Now who would have thought that a TV show would make it into our adventure but there you go....it has but come on guys it is Jack we are talking about here!

As for Whistler: it has been steadily snowing for two days - just beautiful. It doesn't matter where you are when it is snowing there is just a lovely peace about it....not like rain; quiet and beautiful. Except of course for the times when the snow builds up on the roofs and people who are trying to get cover under the eaves can get quite a rude shock as a huge deluge lands on their heads - very funny to watch as are the trees that do this little wiggle when there is just too much snow on them and drops half it's load. You look quite silly I'm sure if you try and watch this happen but on occasion you do catch it!

Alright....to those of you who raised their skeptical eyebrow at us staying at hostels - well there is no other way to put it - you were right. It's nice but my god the clientele is foetal with the average age being between 15 and 19 and the average alcohol consumption is at 'very high'. The facility itself is clean and well maintained - the staff are just lovely it's the titillating conversations that are missing though the dropping of eaves and just people watching can leave you in the giggles - lots! It really is like being back at school - not good for a holiday!!!!!

Therefore decided to cancel our next hostel accommodation in Lake Louise and did some major research and once again were shocked to find there are places that are lodges or cabins that would have the older age bracket that are the same price if not cheaper. We are staying at the Deer Lodge in Lake Louise and it looks stunning and we managed to get it for the same price as here even with the $100 cancellation fee. We are very much looking  forward to trying some cross country skiing and snow shoeing whilst there as they have many tracks.

We have been hearing about the nasty humid weather you are experiencing - I just gazed out the window and it is steadily snowing with a heavy cloud cover - visibility would not be great on the mountain today but it's just beautiful to sit here by a large window and watch the snowflakes fall whilst sipping a cuppa - I know that doesn't make you feel better but it would be lovely to share it with you all -  but this is the only way we can. Love you all :)
