Day 2

BIG sleep!! Woke up at 11.30am after 9 hours sleep - much needed. Hunger drove us outside once again but this time we ventured to the dubious shop which really didn't seem so dubious in the daylight hours! Breakfasted on ham, cheese and tomato croissants and tea WITH sugar - yes we remembered this time. We are both still having an issue with our phones - no reception here and with our search for a public phone unsuccessful we resorted to ringing our lodging specialist who got us this unit and he conferenced us via skype to the Alaska Snowmobile people and yes it's sunday and they were closed so we are hoping that we are still going on our safari tomorrow - fingers crossed.

We have done a fair bit of walking and were both surprised to see the mountains that were hidden in darkness last night - beautiful. We have attached some photos but the joy of today was finding a window of an apartment block that had a lit up flamingo by the xmas tree (see photo page day 2). Just a relaxing day really with a laundry stop tonight - minimum clothing - lots of washing : / But washing here is a little different because it is next door and requires you to go outside so on goes the jackets, boots, beenies and gloves - all fun!! We just spoke to our landlord and yesterday to raise money for the paralympics he did a polar dive which entailed stripping off and jumping into a hole in the ice and then getting out and jumping into a hot tub and drinking hot chocolate - shame it was yesterday because we would have loved to have seen it.

Alright that's it for today - check out the picks :)
